Baku Energy Week Brought Together Global Energy Leaders

On June 4, one of the region’s most prominent energy event – Baku Energy Week – successfully concluded at the Baku Expo Center. This comprehensive energy platform unites three prestigious events: the 30th Anniversary Caspian Oil and Gas Exhibition, the 13th Caspian International Power and Green Energy Exhibition – Caspian Power, and the 30th Anniversary Baku Energy Forum. While the Caspian Oil and Gas and Caspian Power exhibitions took place at the Baku Expo Center, the Baku Energy Forum was held at the environmentally designed Baku Congress Center.

The continued presence of President Ilham Aliyev of the Republic of Azerbaijan at the official opening ceremonies highlights the prestige and significance of the exhibition. Each year, the President tours the event, engaging with participants and exploring the featured displays. This year, President Ilham Aliyev once again attended the opening ceremony of the 30th Anniversary Baku Energy Week.

The Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan supports the events held within the Baku Energy Week, and the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) acts as the general partner.

Throughout Baku Energy Week, a series of memoranda of understanding were signed to strengthen long-term partnerships. These agreements, forged in cooperation with partner countries and leading global companies, play a key role in ensuring Azerbaijan’s energy future and facilitating its transition to green energy. Among the agreements signed was a land lease deal between the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Universal Solar Azerbaijan LLC, which will pave the way for future renewable energy projects. In addition, a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement was signed with China Energy Engineering Corporation Limited, focusing on energy sector collaboration, while another agreement brought amendments to the cooperation memorandum on energy transition with Maire Tecnimont S.p.A. Further contracts included power purchase and grid connection agreements between Azerenerji OJSC and Enerso Cəbrayıl LLC for the “Ufuk” solar power plant project, and a balancing agreement between Azerenerji, Norm OJSC, and Enerso Cəbrayıl for the “Ufuk” and “Shams” solar power plants. Moreover, agreements were also signed between Azerenerji OJSC and Clean Energy Jabrayil LLC for the “Shams” solar power plant, as well as with Universal Solar Azerbaijan for the “Gobustan” solar station project.

This year, the 30th Anniversary Baku Energy Week hosted 267 companies from 39 countries. Alongside Azerbaijan, participating nations include Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, China, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Luxembourg, Monaco, the Netherlands, Norway, Pakistan, Poland, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Türkiye, Ukraine, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, the United States, Uzbekistan, and Guinea-Bissau. Germany participated with a national pavilion.

The 30th Caspian Oil and Gas Exhibition showcased a wide range of sectors including oil and gas field development, transportation and production, telecommunications and IT, refining, construction and installation, and innovative technologies. Cutting-edge advancements in AI, decarbonization, drilling technologies, and production/storage of oil and non-gas products were among the highlights.

The 13th Caspian Power Exhibition featured products and services in solar, wind, geothermal, and thermal energy, machinery and energy equipment, electric transport, and energy-saving technologies.

During a high-profile VIP tour, top leaders of the energy industry visited key stands including BP, Türkiye Petrolleri Anonim Ortaklığı (TPAO), Italy’s Maire, Hungary’s MOL Group, the German National Pavilion, Russia’s Tatneft, China’s Sinopec SJ Petroleum Machinery Co., Uzbekistan’s Uzbekneftegaz, UAE’s Masdar, US-based Schlumberger (SLB), Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power, and France’s TotalEnergies. Around 40% of exhibitors represented leading companies in the sector.

SOCAR is the general partner of Baku Energy Week. Among the participants, partners, and sponsors of the event are prominent companies such as ABB, ACWA Power, Azfen, AZEL Systems LLC, Baku Steel Company, bp, Gap İnşaat, HMS Group, HUAWEI, Inpex, INTI, iMotors, Kolin İnşaat, Masdar, MOL Group, MVM, NewMed Energy, Saipem, Pasha Bank, SLB, Türkiye Petrolleri AO, TotalEnergies, Tekfen Inşaat ve Tesisat, Ural Steel, and XRG. PASHA Bank, the country’s leading corporate financial institution, is acting as the Official Bank of the event. The official sponsors of the shuttle buses are “AZFEN” and “TEKFEN” companies.

As part of Baku Energy Week’s social responsibility efforts, children from the inclusive “Ümid var” community showcased their artwork at the Gala dinner. These unique creations added a special touch to the event and drew strong interest from guests. A charity auction of these works was also held.

The event is organised by Iteca Caspian and its international partners ICA Events and Caspian Event Management. Baku Energy Week holds the quality mark of the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI), which confirms the high level of its organisation and the reliability of the statistical data presented. The event is also actively supported by the Azerbaijan Exhibition Organisers Association (ASTA).
