BARMEK AZERRBAIJAN
A Step Toward Transparency

The Largest Energy Distributing Company
Sums Up Four Years Of Activity
.

On February 3, 2006 there was an enterprise at the Park Inn Baku hotel, dedicated to the summary of work of the Turkish energy distributing company, Barmek Azerbaijan. The unusual thing of this enterprise for independent Azerbaijan is that no other company (weather state, private or stock company) had ever represented to the public such a large industrial and financial report. Without exaggerating we can say that the report surpasses in content the report of the oil industry giant, BP-Azerbaijan.
Huseyn Arabul the president of Barmek Azerbaijan, in his presentation has reported the company started its work in Azerbaijan on January 1, 2002 when the beginning of the management of Baku Electric Net started. That same year the company also took over energy distributing nets of Sumgait city and the northern regions of the country. The concluded treaty with the ministry of Economic Development of Azerbaijan has juridical power over the next 25 years.

Received Electric Energy:
By the summery of 2005 the company received from ACG "Azerenergy", a monopolist-producer of electric energy in the country, 10.96 million KWH of electric energy for a sum of 918 bln 838,23 mln manat ($ 194,3 mln). In comparison with the last year the size of the received electric energy (10 bln 248, 27 mln KWH) has increased on 7,02%.

Means of Collection.
During the past year the company managed to collect from its subscribers 739, 12 bln manat ($156, 3 mln) for consumed energy. The collection of means in comparison to the index of 2004 (655, 92 bln manat) has increased on 12, 7%.

"Azerenergy"

According to the signed contract, also considering order N 80 of the cabinet of ministers of Azerbaijan, Barmek Azerbaijan during the first year of its activity had to pay "Azerenergy" only half a price of the received electric energy, and in 2003- 55%. Although the level of payment by the summery of 2002 exceeded the agreed obligations on 10%. In spite of this during the following years the level of payment of "Azerenergy" went down to the foreseen level of payment on 4, 98% and 3, 3% accordingly in 2003 and 2004 years. By the summery of 2005, "Azerenergy" paid 305, 03 bln manat ($64, 5 mln) cash and 131, 62 bln manat ($27,8 mln) invoice.

The Number of Subscribers.
Barmek Azerbaijan is slowly increasing the number of its subscribers. During the 2005 in comparison to the last year the number of subscribers had increased to 59985 units, reaching 804781.

Investments.
According to the conditions of the signed contract, Barmek Azerbaijan during the first four years of its activity has put 322, 969 bln manat ($68,29 mln) into investments in contrary to predicted 254, 38 bln manat (%53, 79 mln). At the same time, the volume of the actual investments has increased the obligation facts to 26, 95%.

A year after, the energy distributing company managed to lower the level of technical losses on 16, 83%, and in 2004-on 15, 19%. By the sum of 2005 because of the renewal of some elements of energy net, this index was lowered to the level of 13, 8%.
